COMPOSITION:
Each tablet contains
Cefuroxime Axetil B.P. 500mg
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Cefuroxime Axetil is a semisynthetic, broad-spectrum cephalosporin antiobiotic for oral administration. Cephalosporins act by binding with Penicillin Binding Proteins (PBP) and in turn halt the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall producing bacteriacidal action.
INDICATIONS:
Treatment of infections caused by susceptible microorganisms in:
Respiratory tract infections of Pharyngitis/tonsillitis, Acute bacterial otitis media/maxillary sinusitis, Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, Secondary bacterial infections of acute bronchitis.
Uncomplicated skin/skin structure and UTI, Uncompli-cated gonnorhea, early erythema migrans(Lyme disease)
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION (oral use):
B.I.D. to T.I.D for 5 to 10 days depending upon type and severity of infection or as directed by the Physician.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Contraindicated in patients with known allergy to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics.
WARNINGS:
Should be given with caution to patients receiving concurrent treatment with potent diuretics because these diurectics are suspected of adversely affecting renal function.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Diarrhea/loose stools, nausea/ vomiting, abdominal pain, swollen tongue, indigestion.
